The Somali Geological Research Association (SOGERA) is a non-governmental organization that preserves the educational advancement of mining, petroleum, and groundwater studies to enhance the focus on research in Somalia. We work with researchers on minerals, oil, and water, assisted by local geoscientists to assess future resources for the benefit of the Somali people who, at present, have much left to wish for regarding such resources. Our main beliefs are service, honesty, cooperation, and originality.
SOGERA believes that education and knowledge are the sine qua non for sustainable development. The series of monthly symposiums aim to create a platform for local researchers to share their findings; to conduct training programs; and to build bridges between communities, geologists, and researchers. Our partnership efforts are focused on fostering innovation and sustainability in geosciences.
